I’ve been researching family history sporadically since I was fourteen years old. I have boxes of personal items; polaroid, film and digital photographs; and too much information scribbled on everything from notebooks to bits of paper. Over the years I have lost valuable research through my many moves within the United States and to and from Germany.
This blog is a place to store my research so I can access it from anywhere in the world and a way to share what I’ve learned with family members.
In addition to discovering names and dates, I enjoy learning about the times and places our ancestors lived. Imagining them in the context of their daily lives helps bring them to life in my mind. Some of the information shared here will be factual. Some of it will be personal – wonderings I have while doing research, historical fiction I’ve written about my ancestors or reflections I’ve made along the way.
